Review

Now this is the kind of romance I like, no, LOVE to read! It ticked all the boxes on my perfect romance book list and left me very satisfied when turning the last page.

You and Me on Vacation tells the story of two best friends, Alex and Poppy, who seem to have had a falling out 2 years ago. We, the readers, don’t know what happened or why they haven’t tried to fix things in the last two years. The chapters alternate between “This Summer” and previous summers. This way, while the story in the present progresses, we get to know their story from the very beginning in lovely summer snippets.
I adored that the two main characters had an established relationship already. It makes it so much easier for me to believe in them together. They also just fit perfectly together, even though they had completely different personalities. You could really feel their history and shared experiences through the writing. Hats off, Emily Henry.

The issues that they were facing in moving their relationship to the next level were also very realistic and believable. Whereas in other romance novels I struggle with how naive the main characters are or how stupid misunderstandings cause trouble, this book actually highlighted some very valid points that could get in the way of a succesful relationship.

A solid five stars from me for the amazing friendship these two main characters had, the more realistic view on relationships and the writing that pulled me in from the very beginning.
